| First post and a question that needs an answer... |
[17 Nov 2008|11:54pm] |
Just joined this comm. I am pretty excited that I found it. I hope there will be more seasons of this show because I LOVE it.
Just a question I need to post now. I love Kenley's style (albeit her attitude makes me shudder a bit) Is there a specific name for the type of feathered hair pins that she wears. They have a very vintagey burlesque feel that I ADORE.
Thanks for anyone who can answer this for me :)

Hey, all, I'm gearing up for a move to (currently) cold, overcast, lake-effected Chicago. I though I'd try to unload a few things, but really the only thing of consequence I can unload now that anyone might be interested in here is a copy of When Sleeplessness Is Rest From Nightmares by Arma Angelus.
Arma is, for those who for some reason don't know, the hardcore band Pete fronted with Christopher Gutierrez on bass, and during the last show, Trohman on guitar, and Patrick on drums. This is the last ep before Arma disbanded, and it's fantastic. I just need to unload some stuff.
It's in wonderful playable condition, with a few light scratches that I'll buff out before I send it off (I work at a cd store, and am pretty good a resurfacing the little bastards). New case, too!
Overall, it's in pretty good condition. I'll not set a price for it. Send me an offer!
Drop me a line via e-mail (heywoodhead@yahoo.com), LJ Private Message, or on AIM if I'm on there.
Just include $2 for shipping within the US in your offer, and we'll be set. I'll be taking offers until Tuesday night when I return home from work (probably around midnight EST time).
Thanks for looking. :)

when i mention to people that i am working on a retrospective book, it seems to be met with a squinty eye: "wait, you're working on a book that you've already written?" yes and no. heres an example:
1.24.2004 11:49p FIRST POST.
you have a question? i have the answer.
If I only knew how this one simple post would have altered the course of my life, maybe I would have approached it differently. If no one would have replied, odds are, this journal would have ended here. Without this journal and the feedback from it, I never would have taken any of my writings seriously and I certainly never would have considered authoring a book or speaking to crowds from a podium. It was with the prompting of strangers, kids worlds away motivating me to step outside of my comfort zone asking for my honesty. Without the kids, there would have been no reply, No rebuttal, No criticism, No reaction, No retaliation No relationship, No book. Without the book there would have been no readings, speakings or tours. And without that, I never would have had the opportunity to reach out to people at shows, online, in coffeehouses or in different countries. I would still be a hair stylist at a salon in Chicago waking up to the sound of an alarm clock.
If it wasn’t for this one simple post, I wouldn’t be who I am today.
----- see, its like a book within the book. it will only be on sale for 1 week in december. only 250 hand signed and numbered will be made. for those of you who have been asking what hits i will be including, heres the list:
----------2004- first post. its snowing. and now for something completely different...something from my 'real' journal. how do you measure? based on a true story. the answer key (teachers edition): an albatross. are you down with the sound of this devil town? excerpt from deadxstop fanzine # 5.5. welcome to the new romance. never trust a boy that wouldnt bleed for you. desperate fighters with brilliant hearts. a new star. scars and trackmarks. excerpt from deadxstop fanzine # 5.5. high school persuasive paper # 6769870. another excerpt from deadxstop fanzine # 5.5. know your role. this is 3am. scam artist. ----------2005- shakespeare in love. "if you're gonna scream, scream with me cause moments like this never last." at war with god. "i smell a journal entry coming." sunlight is the new midnight. forever and counting. we're all masochistic hearts. power to the people. "the definition of punk rock is, if you dont know then fuck you," -penelope spherris. "and i'm dying to not give up on this." attention everyone: lets turn down the pussy. true love and the damage done. site crash. again. "and i am dying to not give up on this." An open letter to those who bear the brunt. so who wants to be christopher this time? me or you? "somehow we get by without ever learning." this isnt about you. its about me. it always has been. my friends look out for me like family. a broken compilation tape was my father. the kids suck. the glory of The Fuck You. "just this once, be my savior." ----------2006- just sayin... "i dont know where im going... and i dont think i care." we are the dirt poets. "this ones mine, so im taking it back...im taking them all back." "your only saving grace is your humor." if ive never told you to, "stop being a goddamn pussy," we're probably not friends. re-calibrate. i am the ghost writer for the soul of a mercenary. an open letter of apology to those who it may apply. i love many. i respect few. the potato eaters. "there is a world waiting for us to live in it." why I am. standard follow up explanation. fence riders anonymous. how bullshit saved my life. beating the odds. give me the wrench. love redux. i killed the radio star. still swinging. the only fingers you point should be at the mirror. ----------2007- and the sun shines on me. every day. breathe out the bad, breathe in the good. come on, we have to prove we're adults now. obligatory clarification follow up post. FTK. blondor (HL) 20v. 2oz.7/7 1oz8/0 (LL) 1.9%v. w/nape. partial. 10/1 pastel v. 5min. base, 3min. ends. "i turn my back on society when society turns it back on me.” my friends can beat up your friends. thank you, heather. virginia tech. forging through while you light the way. Mandatory bloodletting. june 8th. who are you calling normal? the end of an era. "the one thing that still holds true." an open letter i would rather open the door for an enemy than close one for a friend. "living well is the best revenge." "fuck the glory days." real friendships are never easy. fuck change. dont be a turd. born lucky. why do you fight? ----------2008- hooray for mid-day talks at boston markets. "hoods up. headphones on." go get it on. "i know." "there’s no revolution anymore." faith. a formal letter of apology. "if i knew my words would change your mind, i would scream forever." oh, do i regret. who is in your corner? just a little less shitty. "what remains is more than words." call it a dare.
- the book will have a little something written about each and every last one of these entries. so now do you see why this might be a bit time consuming?
- in other news, its my birfday.
- i saw this movie the other night. it was fucking amazing. get on it.

this LJ book is murdering my social life. i had to kick cronin, johndestroy and chris-works! out of my apartment today so i could continue to work. i even went so far as to turn off the new call of duty game, which, btw, is fucking amazing... um, you can kill dogs and nazis, if you can come up with a cooler game, let me know. after this week i will have my life back, i just need to get the files into the printer by thursday of this week in order to have it in your paws by christmas. the more i work on it, the more stoked i am on it, but right now, i want to stab its face in. its definitely cutting into my birfday month festivities, which, btw, the international internet holiday is quickly approaching... tomorrow! scrub your nuts and vaginas with snow fairy body wash in celebration.

- stevekane grew up and got an "adult" blog, and no, not in the cool boob-and-vagina kind of way. since then, he has been known to post many an interesting blog, although, he does clutter it up with weird rantings about boring shoe-gaze bands, but the other day he posted a video of davey havok being a real dude. i gave up on AFI after 'the art of drowning' cd came out. rumors always circulated that the dude was still straight edge, but yo, come on man, you know you cant take a mofucker seriously if hes wearing sparkly 6 inch eyelashes and carries a parasol. yet, in a strange turn of events, dude put on his big girl panties and came on stage with ceremony to sing the straight edge anthem: straight edge revenge. as sloppy as it is, i wont lie when i tell you i got goosebumps when i saw this:
lyrics: I'm as straight as the line that you sniff up your nose I'm as hard as the booze that you swill down your throat I'm as bad as the shit you breath into your lungs And I'll fuck you up as fast as the pill on your tongue STRAIGHT EDGE REVENGE
- sadly, proposition 8, which prevents marriage between two consenting gay adults has passed in california. the other day, i was reading on my favorite catty gay dude blog site, dlisted, that melissa etheridge is refusing to pay her taxes because she is no longer "legally" married to her wife. she feels that since she no longer is counted as a full citizen and does not have the same legal rights, she therefore shouldnt have to pay the same taxes. so todays poll is: Poll #1298277 should le gays have to pay taxes if their rights are being taken away and are being blatantly discriminated against?
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All should le gays have to pay taxes if their rights are being taken away and are being blatantly discriminated against?

| We're moving Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 16:00-20:00 UTC |
[14 Nov 2008|12:17pm] |
We're pulling the plug! And putting it back in a different location! Ok, that was bad.
Seriously though, our data center move -- from San Francisco to Montana -- is scheduled for THIS TUESDAY, November 18, 2008 at 16:00 UTC (this equates to 8AM Pacific timezone) and will last for 4 hours. Unfortunately it'll be total downtime for all our sites and services -- no posting, no reading, no email.
Another news announcement will be posted on Monday November 17, including links to updated FAQs that you'll want to check out before the move.
As always, status.livejournal.org will have any updates during the move so bookmark it and check it out for the latest news.
All of us at LiveJournal have been eagerly looking forward to this move and I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we put the finishing touches on something that will allow us to bring you an even better product in the future. Though for us in the Ops and Engineering teams, we'll be REALLY happy if, on Tuesday, everything just works the same way it did on Monday. Heh.

| My Chemical Romance's speedy album |
[13 Nov 2008|12:52pm] |
My Chemical Romance have told fans to expect their new album, the follow-up to 2006's 'The Black Parade', "real quick".
My Chemical Romance have told fans to expect their new album "real quick".
The Emo rockers - who released their last LP 'The Black Parade' in 2006 - are currently in the studio and claim they are so inspired they expect the record to be finished very soon.
Frontman Gerard Way told NME magazine: "I have a lot of time to write right now. It may just be two months and then we might end up getting inspired and a record just spills out of us real quick.
"I'm a storyteller and a lyricist and I always try to tell stories with records."
The musician also confirmed he will be involved in a film adaptation of his superhero comic strip 'The Umbrella Academy'.
The story centres around a family of dysfunctional superheroes and 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' director Alfonso Cuaron is already in talks to bring it to life on the big screen.
Gerard said: "I tend to stay out of that kind of thing although Mike Richardson [of Dark Horse, publishers of 'The Umbrella Academy'], who signed the deal, wants me to be very involved. We'll have to see but if we get the right people in place, it could be a really amazing film." http://news.stv.tv/entertainment/39565-my-chemical-romances-speedy-album/

i gave myself a goal and goddamnit i will finish this damn LJ book if it kills me, which it very well might. for those of you who love to skim or arent in the know, i am putting out a coffee table book (not that none of you have a coffee table, its just short for "large book" aka: 8.5x11 inches) retrospective of my favorite entries. like, if you want to look for that one rant that i went on back in 2005?... itll be in there. it will be comprised of my favorite entries of significance. after each entry i am writing a follow-up retrospective.
if i want it out by my dec/jan tour of the united states, i have to have the files in very very soon and i am far from where i should be so i will be stuck up in my crib until i get to where i need to be. the book will be limited to only 250 copies that will be hand numbered, signed and only available for 1 week to purchase online. if they sell out, they sell out. if there are any left over, i will only sell them on tour.
i was insanely busy last week and because of this taking FAR longer to write than expected (its like writing a book within the LJ entries), i will not be doing my radio show tonight. sucks we have to postpone the hosoi interview, im so geeked on this its not even funny. also, i have the new call of duty 5 'world at war' game that i was only able to play 20 minutes of today before i had to get back to writing.
in the meantime, watch this video. and you are not allowed to comment with, "holy shit".
